Itinerary
Day 1: Into the Wild — Srinagar to Daksum
Land in Srinagar and leave the city behind, driving deep into the pine-scented forests of Daksum (approx. 2,600m) in south Kashmir. Thick deodar forests, cold mountain streams and a silence so complete you can hear the trees breathe. Pine forest walks at dusk, the hidden Daksum waterfall and a riverside bonfire under the stars. Stay: Hotel Asal Cottage / Paradise Retreat or similar. Meals: dinner.
Day 2: Valley of Legends — Daksum to Srinagar
A scenic drive to Srinagar to see the city the way locals do. A shikara at golden hour from a quiet corner of Dal Lake, a walk through the old city's narrow lanes and centuries-old shrines, the Mughal gardens, and bazaar shopping for pashmina, saffron and hand-knotted carpets direct from the artisans. Stay: Hotel Regenta Central / Ennco Resort or similar. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Day 3: The Forbidden Valley — Srinagar to Gurez
Cross the mountains into Gurez, a valley so remote it needs an Inner Line Permit to enter. The Dard people have lived here for centuries, speaking a language older than Kashmir itself, and the Kishanganga River runs turquoise through the valley. Stay: Hotel Sukoon or similar. Meals: breakfast and dinner. Note: mobile connectivity is limited.
Day 4: Gurez Unfiltered
A full day in a place most Indians have never heard of. Habba Khatoon Peak, named after Kashmir's poet-queen; the wild Kishanganga River; Dawar Village and its Dard tribal culture; and the even more remote Tulail sub-valley. Stargazing after dark with zero light pollution. Stay: Hotel Sukoon or similar. Meals: breakfast and dinner.
Day 5: Meadow at the Top of the World — Gurez to Gulmarg
Drive to Gulmarg (2,650m). The Gondola runs in two phases — Phase 1 to Kongdoori, Phase 2 to Apharwat Peak at 3,980m, where on a clear June day the Himalayas stretch endlessly. June is peak bloom, and the valley floor is carpeted in wildflowers. Pony rides around the meadow and the small local market. Stay: Pine Spring Hotel or similar. Meals: breakfast and dinner. Note: Gondola tickets are not included and sell out fast — book as soon as the trip is confirmed.
Day 6: Until Next Time — Gulmarg to Srinagar Airport
A final morning in the mountains before a private transfer to Srinagar Airport for your onward flight. Meals: breakfast.
